2016 Stylist
We might be known on the continent as reserved, prude and with a stiff upper lip, but recent events would suggest us Brits are in fact much more European than we’d thought (and than 52% of the population would like us to be).
In the past few months we’ve seen the opening of a
naked restaurant, a
naked rooftop bar and now, a naked club night has been announced for the capital.
That’s right, people are genuinely proposing we get naked and sweaty and jiggle our wobbly bits in front of complete strangers, to the sound of the latest Deep House track.
The event, called Get Naked, will launch on 7 October for a bi-weekly night at the Takeover Bar in Greek Street, Soho. Clothes are of course, optional (you can’t exactly force people to get their kit off), and those who decide to don only their birthday suits can then have them painted and be rewarded with a bottle of champagne for their bravery.
The night will also include hula-hoopers, live music and naked shot-servers, and organisers say it shall be “steeped in debauchery” with “booze, bubbles and bums.”
Josh Walker, the PR for the event, told getwestlondon that tickets for the night are already “selling like hotcakes.”
“Soho is bohemian, sexual and liberating,” says Walker, “and the venue is intimate, so we are expecting a sell-out.”
The news comes shortly after Paris has proposed plans for a
designated naked zone within the city.
Of course, those of us who commute on the tube are more than familiar with getting sweaty and up-close with strangers on a daily basis...
Bottoms up, eh?
