This bird really hates beach sex.
A Belgian nudist group’s hopes for an official clothing-optional beach were dashed after environmentalists protested that their presence would offend the local population of crested larks.
Apparently, the “subsidiary activities” associated with naked sunbathing — ahem, people getting down in the dunes — frighten the delicate Galerida cristata.
The Belgian Naturism Federation already has one state-sanctioned nude beach to boff at, but it is so popular that they wanted a second.
They had a spot picked out and everything: Westende, a coastal town near the French border.
But the Flemish Agency for Nature and Woodland didn’t like the idea and appealed to the country’s environmental minister on behalf of birds and dunes alike.
While the group offered up a compromise — fencing off the dunes — the town’s mayor pointed out that frisky naked bathers could scale fences just as well as clothed ones.
Looks like the buzzkill birds will get to keep the sand all to themselves.
