On a sunny afternoon on Sunday, Aug. 25, the Denver GoTopless event returned to Civic Center Park, where activists gathered before
marching topless down the 16th Street Mall.
Participants see the march as an opportunity to normalize and desexualize women’s breasts. The annual event “aims to improve society through changed laws and worldviews, by sharing awareness of how sexist double standards promote objectification and rape culture,” according to
denvergotopless.com. “By normalizing female toplessness, we’re showing that breasts and women’s bodies aren’t merely sexual objects.”
