Cops in New South Wales in Australia say two nudists were fined more than $1,000 after being startled by a deer and getting lost in a national park.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported the nude sunbathers were fined because they breached COVID-19 public health orders, one of 44 fines levied in New South Wales last weekend.
“Unbelievably, we saw two men sunbaking naked on a beach on the South Coast. They were startled by a deer, ran into the … national park and got lost,” said NSW Police commissioner Mick Fuller.
Cops say the clothing-optional men called for help on the evening of June 27 after getting lost while visiting a remote beach. Emergency personnel — which included the use of a police helicopter - found one of the naked men walking down a track. The second man was found not far from his companion.
A police spokesperson told the Herald the fines were justified because nude sunbathing wasn’t a reasonable excuse to breach lockdown orders.
